5 At Home Anti-Aging Masks and Scrubs.

Anti-Aging Masks

Everyone wants glowing, glassy skin. While med-spa appointments and medical grade skincare can do wonders, there are actually cost effective anti-aging treatments you can do yourself with ingredients you probably have lying around in your kitchen, believe it or not.  All you need is a few basic ingredients, like brown sugar, oil, and essential oils, and you will be able to craft a homemade scrub that can make your skin look and feel refreshed. We are going to spill some simple DIY recipes to get amazing skin. Let’s get to it.

Oatmeal and Honey Face Scrub

Who does it benefit? Oily and acne prone skin

Recipe:

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ cup rolled oats (uncooked)
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 15 drops melaleuca oil

This scrub has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. It aids in removing dirt from pores, and revitalizing the skin, resulting in a clearer complexion.

Avocado and Coconut Oil Mask

Who does it benefit?  Everyone, especially those who need some extra hydration

Recipe:

  • 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1/4th ripe avocado
  • ½ teaspoon of nutmeg

Just mix together and apply. While this recipe has tons of anti-aging properties, it’s great for every skin type. Leave it on for 15 minutes before rinsing with lukewarm water.

The Brown Sugar Scrub

Who benefits? Everyone

Recipe:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup of a non-comedogenic oil
  • 3/4 cup Manuka honey.

Brown sugar is a great exfoliant for all skin types and a common ingredient in DIY scrubs because of its moisture. Be gentle with this scrub. Gary Goldenberg, MD, a medical and cosmetic dermatologist, warns that it is possible to cause skin abrasions and even cuts if one uses brown sugar for scrubbing too often. He states that one should not use it more than once a week due to its rough texture.

The Coffee and Cocoa Scrub

Who Benefits? Those with puffy skin

Recipe:

  • 1 teaspoon of ground coffee
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 2 drops geranium oil

A luminous complexion can be achieved with a coffee and cocoa face scrub. This scrub has the power to brighten any skin type and even reduce puffiness. The power of this mask lies in the caffeine due to the natural stimulant of blood flow. Apply the scrub to a clean and dry face, avoiding the eye area. Let the scrub sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with tepid water.

Milk and Honey Exfoliating Mask

Who benefits? Everyone

Recipe:

  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 1-4 teaspoons milk
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons baking soda

Apply this scrub with gentle, circular motions. Just leave it on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. When washing it off, use the same circular motions you used to apply the scrub. Cinnamon has a stimulating effect on blood flow, and this mask is rich in antioxidants.

Happy Mixing!
